Parklea Sand & Soil is a family owned and operated business with its origins dating back to 1966. It began as a poultry farm on Sunnyholt Road at Parklea NSW.  The farm was established and run by George & Marta Schembri and their young family.  Sunnyholt Road, now a four lane main thoroughfare, was nothing more than a farm road leading to a dead-end dirt track at Parklea. Apart from the eggs produced on their farm the Schembri’s sold chicken manure which came out of the sheds. The manure was hand loaded & carted to local market gardens via a 1968 C1600 International tabletop. Their first bogie - an International Acco was purchased in 1977.  When the Acco wasn’t being utilized to cart grain into the farm or for the removal of manure it was put to use in outside quarry work.  Occasionally it carted in the odd load of topsoil for sale from the farm property. Gradually the fleet increased in size and so did the types of materials sold.  In 1988 Parklea Sand & Soil was officially established and has continued to grow and diversify ever since. The surrounding area also grew and as residential development closed in and around the business the process of relocating to a bigger & better site began.  In 2001 work commenced on a new purpose-built yard at 86 Hambledon Road Schofields.  In February 2003 the move was finally complete. Parklea Sand & Soil services both local and outside areas.  It is owned and run by George’s sons Michael & Raymond and you’ll still find George keeping himself busy around the yard.  Michael & Raymond maintain full “hands-on” control of the operation.  The brothers are experienced in the industry and since they own the business - endeavour to provide the best customer service possible.  They work closely with their customers to better understand & cater for each individual job.  The boys try to maintain the lowest possible prices while still supplying top quality products and have proudly established a reputation of being reliable while providing ‘Quality AND Quantity’. The company runs a fleet ranging from 3 tonne tippers to 33 tonne truck and dog combinations. All sizes are catered for - from a single 30kg bag of sand to a 33 tonne truck and dog load.  A hiab truck is on hand to deliver one tonne bulka bags to those difficult sites. We supply a wide range of landscape and building products for the tradesperson, building contractor or home handyman. Visitors are welcome to come to the yard to view our materials.
